Shooting in the Rain
I had 'The Dragon' staying with me this week (the photography viewers will know that's Margaret Salisbury) and we went into Bristol in the rain to look for pictures. In Nelson Street where all the Street Art is I snapped this young lady and put her against one of the Art walls

Art Nude Workshop
Yesterday I attended an Art Nude Workshop in Cheltenham, organised by the Digital Imaging Group of the RPS. About 200 pictures taken, and this is just a taster!

Visit to Avebury
Last Thursday I went on a coach trip with my PROBUS CLUB to Avebury in Wiltshire. Lots of pictures taken of the Standing Stones, and many around the village and the Manor House. However, sitting quietly in the Manor Gardens, I watched two Robins hopping about and managed to catch this one pulling a worm from the soil - taken with my 250mm zoom lens.
I also found some Teasels which were rather difficult to photograph as they were blowing around in the wind.

David and I at Saltford
My Brother-in-law David Cook is over here from Australia and has been with me this week. We had a very pleasant walk along the River Avon at Saltford yesterday.

My friend Ferdie
I was with a good friend of mine yesterday and tried to photograph her dog Ferdie - who clearly didn't want to be recorded! However, during the afternoon, Ferdie was resting in a chair, and I managed to sneak this shot which I was very pleased with!

Magazine Cover
I was asked by the editor of a new Kingswood Magazine to provide a cover for the April edition (having already done the March Cover) but she wanted some spring flowers in a Kingswood setting.
Tried the Park - pitiful display there, so I went into the Holy Trinity Churchyard. Found a good angle, but no spring flowers, however, nearby there were flowers on a bank so I "transplanted" them into the foreground of my picture!

A dog called Lucky
My son and daughter-in-law have a cute little miniature Jack Russell called Lucky. I have tried on numerous occasions to photograph her, but as soon as she sees the camera, she turns away. However, yesterday I almost caught her!!

Lion Resting
O.K., not photography - but just spent a very pleasant day at the Riverbank Art Centre creating this 20" x 16" acrylic on canvas picture!

Taking advantage!
I went to my friend Margaret Collis for lunch last week, and whilst it was being prepared, I took advantage of the shadow of the blind across the carpet. Without permission (how rude!) I removed a flow from a vase and placed it on the carpet and took this picture. I did confess later and hopefully forgiven!
Lunch at Saltford
Had lunch with a friend at the Riverside Inn at Saltford today - not photographic weather, but just a snap taken of the River Avon. Taken from my table through the window!

Sunny day at last!
Was returning home this afternoon - the sun was shining and I spotted some riders, I had the compact with me so took a quick snap for the Blog!

Visit to Torquay
Just spent a few days in Torquay with my Probus Group. On one of the trips we called into Dawlish, and this gentleman was reading his paper 'under' the railway station, facing the sea.

Pollution in Yellowstone
This is another picture from my trip to the States in 1999! Slide scanned, converted to monochrome via Topaz B & W Effects, and this is Sepia and Selenium. That's steam rising in the background!

Aspens
I've been re-visiting some of the scanned slides from my trip to the States in 1999 (getting desperate for images!) I have worked on this shot of Aspens taken in Wyoming. Didn't appreciate how many artifacts get brought across when scanning a slide, so post production work was needed!

Snowed in!
Snow was expected locally, but I didn't think that I would be snowed in today. Kingswood PS meeting this evening cancelled - Geoff Cole and I were on Tea/Coffee duty, so we got away with that!! This picture was taken at about 10.30 am from my bedroom window

Bristol -to - Bath Cyclepath
On the Bristol to Bath Cyclepath there are quite a lot of sculptures and other objects to admire. As I don't cycle, there are lots which I have not seen. However, yesterday I had a quick opportunity to snap the 'brick artwork' in Fishponds, which is called 'Fish on nose' by Don Cocker.
On the site of old Fishponds Station, a brick fish diving into a pond. A time capsule collected by local children is concreted in its belly.

Sunshine - New Year's Day!
I went to friends at Clevedon today and in the afternoon we decided to have a stroll along the sea-front. There were so many people doing the same thing, obviously brought out by the fine weather! I couldn't resist taking a couple of shots with the compact - the Pier with the lake in the foreground, and the Bandstand with the inward-blown trees.
